Here is how this is playing out:
First, Gary Stearman of Prophecy Watchers has chosen Billy Crone as his go-to pretrib rapture guy promoting Crone on his program and his books.
Second, with all respect, Crone’s arguments against the prewrath position and for pretribulationism are surface-level, refuted easily here many times. See especially this post I wrote responding to a recent program that Crone was on with Stearman.
Third, it is one thing to have really bad arguments for your own position and bad arguments against another position, but Crone has compounded the problem by ignoring all critiques to his pretribulationism.
Fourth, this has not gone unnoticed in Gary Stearman’s Prophecy Watchers’ circles. Many know that I have provided substantive responses to Crone’s pretribulationism. But rather than engaging in mature, scholarly, discourse and engagement, Crone has used emotional rhetoric in such a way to pridefully posture himself thinking he does not need to be corrected on either facts or interpretations, nor even respond to critiques of his position.
Fifth, you can only do this for so long until people realize your gig is up, that is, they recognize it for what it is: bluster. I know for a fact there are those who have been in pretrib circles related to Prophecy Watchers who are now rejecting Crone and pretribulationism. They recognize that Crone’s theology is shallow and baseless. It is also interesting to note that Prophecy Watchers posted just yesterday a recycled video of Crone talking about pretribulationism and “refuting” non-pretrib teaching, or what he thinks it is. There is only one explanation for this: they know that prewrath is making an impact on their readers and listeners and so they are recycling old Crone videos trying to refute “non-pretrib” teaching.
Crone’s colossal ignorance in his pretrib safe space is on display in the Prophecy Watchers program. I don’t say this in a disrespectful way; he is in fact totally ignorant of these matters and refuses to be corrected.
People are beginning to recognize this and take notice by rejecting Prophecy Watchers’ shallow teaching.
