“But stay alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that must happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:36 NET)
Frequently I come across pretrib literature that argues that “escape” in Luke 21:36 is teaching a pretribulational rapture. The articles are typically surface level, and they also show a neglect to recognize the difference between the great tribulation and the day of the Lord.
There are good exegetical reasons why “escape” in v. 36 refers to the day of the Lord, not the great tribulation.
