“The salvation of the coming messianic days thus entailed the inward transformation of the individual, which would result from a promised making of a ‘new covenant’ (see also ‘covenant of peace’ and ‘everlasting covenant,’ Ezek 37:26), through which the people would receive a new heart and spirit in order to live out God’s instructions (Jer 31:31–33; Ezek 36:25–29; 37:12–14, 20–27). But, it also included, as a result of this inward salvation, an outward salvation of humanity’s social structures—socio-economic-political righteousness and international peace. This fullness of the promised salvation awaits the return of the Messiah, when the governments of this world will be replaced with his righteous reign.”
