I am super excited about this issue because there is important original argumentation for the prewrath viewpoint as it pertains to understanding the second half of the seventieth week of Daniel.
Travis Snow’s article explains the distinct roles that Israel and the church play during the second half. He makes a key argument against the posttribulation view that claims the saints in the book of Daniel include the church. Snow demonstrates exegetically that the reference of saints in Daniel 7:25 refers to God’s holy nation of Israel and not the church. Consequently, it is Israel and not the church who will be persecuted for 42 months. The church’s suffering will be cut short sometime during the second half at an unknown hour and day.
The goal of my article was to write a definitive prewrath treatment on the prewrath understanding of the cutting short of the great tribulation. Other views miss this essential understanding between the great tribulation and the day of the Lord. The argumentation includes (1) An exegetical treatment of Matt 24:22, (2) addressing other biblical passages that construe the Antichrist’s great tribulation against the church being cut short; in other words, it is not just found in Matt 24:22, (3) and finally, I respond to the various objections and misunderstandings to the prewrath interpretation of the cutting short of the great tribulation. This article is the most extensive treatment on the subject in prewrath literature.
The two articles in this next issue complement each other. You will want to read them together, but you can read them as standalone articles as well.
