If you want to offend someone, tell them they are a sinner in need of the savior Jesus.
If you really want to offend someone, tell them that Jesus is returning to disrupt their routine.
The gospel is about the good news of Jesus’s first and second coming. Until God takes away the sinner’s stoney heart and gives them the will to believe, they will continue in their blindness “because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” (Rom 8:7–8). Believers, however, “are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him” (Rom 8:9).
Praise God for his mercy and election! Salvation is all of God, and none of Man. This makes some people angry people they want to take some credit for their salvation. Not a single person is going to be standing around the throne of God saying, “I am so glad that I chose God.” They are all going to be bowing down knowing who chose who.
“God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth” (2 Thess 2:13).
