Ingrates.
This is my social-theological commentary on the state of the nation.
I have never posted on politics before on this website and I don’t intend to, so don’t construe this post as political. It is not intended to be so.
The state of America comes down to one word: ingrates. A majority of Americans have become ungrateful.
Most of Americans do not know how good they have it here in America. I will be 48 years of age in a couple of months (children of the 80s unite!), so I have witnessed the vast majority of this country going from being thankful for being Americans and all the blessings and privileges that come with being American to the point now that most of Americans today are ungrateful for all the blessings and privileges.
One friend of mine told me that we have so much time on our hands that we look for grievances (why do you think they are offended by everything today?). Half-jokingly, he said, what this country needs is a good plague to jolt people back to reality and show them how good they have it.
How did America get so divided today? Here has been the process:
Ungratefulness -> Victimization -> Identity Politics -> Division
The antidote is for Americans to repent of their ungratefulness and their other sins and pray for God’s mercy.
