I explained Jesus’ reply to his disciples’ question about what is the sign to his coming and the end of the age. Jesus warned that there will be false signs from false messianic claimants. Jesus—the Son of Man—described that his return will be unmistakable and universal using poignant imagery and a proverb. In essence, Jesus was teaching that the sign would be himself in all his radiant and brilliant glory. The sign would be situated by the backdrop of the celestial disturbances darkening the luminaries in order to accentuate the glorious return.
