So goes this pious slogan that I am already hearing in response to the Left Behind movie.
There are three articles this week already with that slogan in the title!
The irony is that most pretribbers do not believe the allusion “left behind” to the Noahic illustration in Matthew 24 has anything to do with the rapture. At least consistent pre-tribulationists who think that Matthew 24 has nothing to do with the rapture. It is pop-pretrib teachers that make this association.
Nevertheless, as a prewrather I believe those left behind after the rapture will be left for judgment and those taken will be delivered. Not the other way around. I have written a popular article on this topic here:
https://www.alankurschner.com/2012/12/04/matthew-2437-41-one-will-be-taken-and-one-left/
I have never had any meaningful response to this article. When someone has critiqued it, they have always gone outside of Matthew 24 to make an argument. They cannot stay in the text and walk through it and interact with the context.
You do NOT want to be left behind when Christ returns, for divine judgment will find you, even if you flee to the caves.
