In the first coming of Christ, the celestial sign announcing the coming of the Lord was peaceful (Matt. 2:2, 7, 9–10).
In the second coming of Christ, the celestial sign announcing the coming of the Lord will bring upheaval (Joel 2:30–31; Matt. 24:29).
Another contrast is the Shekinah sign of Christ:
At the first coming of Christ, Jesus’ glory was concealed in humiliation: “This will be a sign for you: You will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth and lying in a manger” (Luke 2:12).
At the second coming of Christ, Jesus’ glory will be revealed in exaltation: “For just like the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so the coming of the Son of Man will be” (Matt. 24:27; cf. 30).
